“Apparently I’m not just a mum.”
That’s how Emma closed her speech – on a stage she never imagined standing on, sharing a voice she once believed no one would want to hear.
Just a year earlier, she’d arrived at One Woman Conference (a women’s leadership conference) overwhelmed to tears, literally over choosing a lanyard sticker. A self-described “just a mum,” Emma felt completely out of place among women who seemed bold, accomplished, and fearless.
And yet – something in her said yes.
Emma signed up for BeLove, even though she didn’t see herself as a leader. She eventually joined Lead the Change. She kept showing up, retreat after retreat. She cried. She doubted. She felt like an imposter. But she stayed.
“The project was me.”
That was the heart of her Lead the Change journey – not a business, not a product, not a perfect 5-year plan. But herself. The her beyond motherhood. The her that wanted to stop playing small. The her that was ready to step out of fear and into possibility.
With the support of her coach, her circle, and a community that believed in her long before she believed in herself, Emma started to reimagine what her life could look like.
Today, Emma is:
- Launching a media literacy and myth-busting course
- Writing a newsletter with nearly 2,000 subscribers
- Being paid for her writing by people who choose to support her work
- Speaking on radio and podcasts to over a million listeners
- Stepping on stage, dancing, and saying yes to what once terrified her
She’s still a proud mum – but that’s no longer all she sees.
She’s a writer. A scientist. A debunker of myths. A community voice. A woman who is no longer hiding her spark.
