Have you ever had that feeling that there’s something you’re meant to be doing, but you just can’t quite get moving on it?
Maybe it’s a creative project that’s been niggling at you.
A shift in your work life you know is coming.
Or just a sense that the way things are… isn’t quite it anymore.
I want to share something with you today that I’ve seen time and again in the women I work with, and that I’ve experienced in my own life too.
Momentum doesn’t come from pushing harder. It comes from finding space, listening deeply, and taking one small, aligned step at a time.
And no, you don’t need a ten-point plan or a complete strategy to start.
All you need is a little room to breathe… and the willingness to listen to what’s true for you.
Let me walk you through five steps, I use myself, to begin moving again.
1 – Make space to hear yourself think
This is the step most of us want to skip. We’re so conditioned to equate movement with doing that we forget – clarity comes in the pause.
So, before you do anything else, I invite you to create a pocket of quiet.
Just ten minutes will do. Step outside. Turn off the noise. Journal. Breathe.
Ask yourself…..
“What am I really longing for?”
“What’s calling me forward right now?”
Trust that the answers are there. You just need space to hear them.
2 – Connect with your Soft Power
You don’t need to push to make progress. You don’t need to hustle or strive.
What you do need is to connect with your own, grounded source of power. At One of many, we call this Soft Power. The kind of energy that flows when you’re in alignment with your values, your purpose, and your feminine strengths.
It’s not about dominance or control. It’s about confidence, clarity, and calm momentum.
So take a breath. Tune in.
Ask yourself: What’s the most nurturing, wise part of me trying to say right now?
Let her guide the next step.
3 – Set a compassionate intention
Not a goal. Not a deadline.
Just an intention. Something spacious. Something that feels kind and possible.
Maybe it’s:
- “To reconnect with joy.”
- “To feel more present in my mornings.”
- “To honour my creativity this week.”
Your intention is your North Star. It’s the energy you want to bring, not the box you have to tick.
4 – Take one aligned micro-action
This is where movement begins.
And let me be clear, it doesn’t need to be big.
It might be one phone call. One page written. One boundary lovingly held. One walk in nature to reconnect with your vision.
The trick is not the size of the step, it’s how aligned it is to the direction you’re travelling.
Ask yourself: Does this feel true? Does it feel nourishing? If yes, that’s your next move.
5 – Celebrate and reflect
Now, this is the bit we often forget. But celebration is vital.
It tells your system, “Yes, this matters. Keep going.”
So whether your step was tiny or tremendous, pause to reflect:
- What did I learn?
- What shifted in me?
- What do I want to acknowledge myself for?
And then celebrate. Really. Do a little dance. Light a candle. Share it with a friend.
You’re creating momentum, one soft step at a time.
You’re doing beautifully
You’re doing beautifully, truly.
I know it can sometimes feel like everyone else has it all figured out – but the truth is, most of us are simply finding our way, step by aligned step.
The hardest part is beginning. That first small action can feel like standing at the edge of something vast and unknown. But once you take it – even the tiniest step – the path starts to unfold beneath your feet.
And you don’t have to do it by yourself. You belong to an extraordinary community of women who are walking this same path. Women who understand, who’ve been where you are, and who are here to cheer you on and lift you up every step of the way.
Our intention is simple. To support professional women to handle the day-to-day so they can unleash the bigger impact they feel called to make in the world.
We believe real leadership is less about skill, and more about having a well of physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual strength to draw on. Every week we support thousands of grassroots leaders globally with our free articles, videos and online trainings with powerful tools and methodologies created BY women FOR women.
Become One of many women creating strong, meaningful connections in our community.
