When everyone in your life relies on you to get things done, beneath that forcefield of competence is a hell of a lot of hard work. 

Your conscious mind is handling everything on your plate right now. But in our experience, if you stay in this state for an extended period of time, your body will begin to protest. 

You see, running on cortisol and stress hormones gives you the energy to keep going, but it also leads eventually to adrenal exhaustion and burnout. Some of us manage it for forty years, others collapse into a heap in four months.
